The Parable of the Sower is a thought-provoking and unsettling read, with a premise that feels disturbingly relevant even decades after its publication. Butler's depiction of a collapsing society is scarily prescient, and the early parts of the novel—focused on a family trying to survive in an unraveling world—were especially compelling.
