Dew Phillips and his partner in the CIA are on a top secret mission, chasing after madmen who are homicidal and suicidal, possibly infected with some new disease. Teamed with them is Margaret Montoya from the CCID, called upon to run autopsies on the victims of the infection. There's just one problem, there's never enough remains to autopsy, the corpses either burnt or liquefied. What they need is a fresh or alive host.

Thrilling, funny, entrancing, and yet also disgusting. This was my first exposure to Scott Sigler and what a ride it was. I expectantly turned every page waiting for something bigger and better than the one before and was not disappointed. This excellent story inspired me to read everything this author has to offer and buy it all too. If you haven't read a Sigler book yet, this one is the one to start with!

I haven't gone through an entire book in one day in a long time. This book gripped me, however, and I could not stop listening to it (audiobook). The 11+ hours seemed to go by so fast because there was never a lull in the story. It was non-stop, edge of my seat, sphincter-clenching, wide-eyed, holy sh-t horror/action from beginning to end. I highly recommend it.
