I'm not sure what made me buy this on audio, but I enjoyed it. The female protagonist is interesting and her character is reasonably well drawn. Of course it is historically inaccurate to have this self-contained female forensic scientist in the medieval period, but I think it's done subtlety enough to get away with it. I enjoyed the slow development in her romantic relationship, and Rowley is a great character. The secondary characters are also good. The plot was engaging, the suspense just abo
