My problem with this book lies with the characters and I don't really like any of the characters in this book. Ever the main protagonist is just annoying, stupid and petty.
Her relationship with Damen also seems superficial and I don't get that the story was like, "Would Damen and Ever finally seal the deal and have sex after 400 years of their love found and love loss story?" Good. Not as good as the first book in the series, but I think the first book was so good because I had no idea where it was going. I did really like this book and I would suggest it to a teen reader, but - unlike hte first in the series - it's not one that I'd recommend to my adult friends as a great read.

This book was a let-down for me. I've tried to stay positive about it just because I'd already heard that #2 was a let-down but it's the way I feel nonetheless. There were a few surprises in the end which I enjoyed, but it just seemed like too much potion-making, problem-solving and not enough about Ever and Damen's true, unstoppable love. Hoping that Shadowland brings me happiness.
