The story of Cupid and Psyche not only is the direct basis for the C.S. Lewis novel we will be reading, but its influence can be seen in many later fairy tales and mythology.
Translations of this story can be found online, as well as very detailed summaries. If you choose to buy it, you may consider buying "Metamorphoses of Apuleius" in its entirety, as the full novel is actually cheaper than buying this single story, it seems.
I chose this version to post because I felt the translation was an easier read than many of the others.
