What Members Thought
Out of my Mind is one book everyone should read. It teaches readers to not underestimate someone with a disability. Melody Brooks is very smart, she can remember many facts and often associates a color or smell with certain words or experiences. However not very many people are aware of her intelligence because she is unable to speak. 3.5 stars: I have read a decent amount of YA fiction. I think this is a captivating book about a subject that young people should definitely be made aware of and sensitive to. However, compared with other YA fiction I felt that the writing was a bit lacking and some of the characters a bit one dimensional. It could have delved much deeper and only enhanced what we as readers (and humans) got out of it.
Amazing book that I want to share with everyone.
