What Members Thought

I remember slogging my way most of the way through this book when I was a child. Mary's life in India seemed very much like a dream sequence to me; reading it as an adult, I had a much better understanding of the situation. As an elementary school student, I didn't understand a lot of what was going on and ditched the book in annoyance for something easier to enjoy.

This was one of my mother's favorite books, and I remember loving the movie that came out when I was a child. Listening to it, I found the beginning quite slow, but the ending was wonderful. I love how the garden was so integral and almost a character in and of itself, and how it turned around all of their lives. I found it surprising that Mary and Colin became such good friends when he was so insufferable, but it paid off in the end. And who doesn't love Dicken??

I really liked this classic. It was such a cute story. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I found the quick transformation of the two children a bit unbelievable. I can't wait to re-watch the movie since it was one of my favorites as a child.
