I thought I read this book when I was in 5th or 6th grade but now that I've started listening to it, I realize that I'm not familiar with it. Is there a book with a similar plot but the boy is trapped in Alaska? Or perhaps my recollection is very vague.
Update: What a great survival story. Gary Paulsen's pacing is near-perfect, especially for some of the most dangerous or important events. I see why this is such a popular choice for language arts instruction; recommended for grades 5 and 6. ...more

A pretty interesting book. Although it focuses on one character, the character is round and dynamic. The book deals with a boy who is in a plane crash and has to survive on his own. So even though he is the only character, nature serves as another interesting character. Seeing Brian's thinking process is amazing and very realistic. The plot is well paced.
