This was the most fun and satisfying read. I loved the characters (especially Og) and was on my toes (or the edge of the couch) most of the book. I appreciated that Cline did not go for predictable story lines or outcomes, and the story felt so genuine. I only wish I was more of a "nerd" so I could better appreciate the references. I really enjoyed the first half of the book. All the 80's references, and in a way, reliving some of my childhood. After the halfway point, I felt the story was lacking. I also felt like the book was missing something. After talking with a few people, I was able to figure it out. To me, the world as a whole was lacking.

My favorite read of 2011

There was a lot of world building at the beginning of the book and it felt like it took a long time. However, about 1/3 of the way in, the book starts to pick up and get pretty good. I don't feel like I'm quite nerdy enough to fully enjoy this book but there were some nerdy things I could relate to and tons I was familiar with. All in all, it was a very enjoyable read. The characters were very likable. The pacing was good (after the super long initial world building). The plot was interesting. H
