What Members Thought
I felt that the middle dragged on and was dull compared to the beginning and end, and as with most Dickens books I found some characters to be unnecessary that could have been left out. The best, and most remembered, character of Sydney Carton was in the book surprisingly little - we meet him seemingly briefly in the beginning, and don't see him again until he appears as the hero in the end. The ending, however, was masterfully brilliant and even made me tear up - the mark of excellent writing:
