What Members Thought

Very readable, but I liked the first book in the series much better. By putting the main character, Harry Clifton, in prison as a result of mistaken identity, I couldn't help reading it as an apologia for the author's time in prison.
There was a lot of padding. The first book was not much longer but covered over 18 years of story without feeling rushed. This book covered 1939-1945 and felt as if it were only a few months. Very limited character development, except for Harry's friend Giles.
