Revisiting the first in this series because my kids are finally old enough for it, and, rabid Percy Jackson fans that they are, they are SOOOO hungry for funny adventure. So far, listening to this in the car, they are alternately spellbound and laughing like something is actually tickling them.

Cute book-- I did think Gregor acted a bit too mature for his age (I would have bought 13 or 14 more easily than 11), but I really liked the world she's created, and that kept me reading, and will probably keep me reading the next books.

While obviously intended for a younger audience than Hunger Games, it was still interesting to me as an adult. This is probably a great book to read or listen to with your kids.

One sentence review: Suzanne Collins made me cry when a cockroach died and I can't wait to read the rest of this series. ...more

I enjoyed this book so much more than her Hunger Games series. Gregor the Overlander has more heart and is much more imaginative and better written in my opinion. Also, this book contained no annoying love triangles which was also a plus. Great adventure with a big dose of good family feels, highly recommended.

I love a portal into another world, and a quest, and a fight against evil. Gregor had these, with his charming little sister along for the adventure. I did not love the creatures in the Underland- they were creepy!
