The Summer I Learned to Fly tells the story of Drew who is being raised by her single mom. Drew is thirteen and struggling with all the angst and awkwardness that comes along with that age. Although, Drew doesn't have many friends she does have a close relationship with her mother and a few of the employees in her mother's gourmet cheese shop.
