Rick Riordan truly creates an awesome new world with the Kane Chronicles! It was sad when Percy Jackson ended since I love mythology. You wouldn't think that he could come up with new scenarios with a different group of mythological gods, but he did it again! This is definitely a must read if you are a history/mythology buff!

A good starting book for those interested in Egyptian mythology, but the actual plot leaves MUCH to be desired. I feel it is too rambly. It bores me, a lot, and is almost completely parallel to the Percy Jackson series, where you were just absolutely COMPELLED to go on, no matter what.
The Red Pyramid does something similar; if you are a person who dedicates yourself to finishing what you started, this book will BORE you so much that you will keep reading to find some reading candy.
