What Members Thought

For a lot of kids, reading is work. Clearing the path for those kids is just as important as making sure that that path goes to exciting places. And doing that without dumbing the whole thing down until you're driving along a featureless interstate past a series of increasingly irritatingly themed malls? Well. If just anyone could do that, we'd have a whole lot more blockbuster middle grade novels, wouldn't we?

Riordan has really outdone himself with this novel! I was highly impressed by the “Percy Jackson” series, and am even more so with this newest endeavor. I am so glad Riordan chose to continue the saga of Percy Jackson through Greek mythology, and I love the new twist added as Riordan takes on Roman mythology as well, twisting personalities of the gods and adding suspense to the series as they go. Riordan is such a fantastic writer. He really draws you in and makes you want to read the whole book in one sitting. If you are a fan of the Percy Jackson series, this is a great spin-off that involves some of the same characters with new ones that are just as interesting. I would recommend reading the Percy Jackson series first however, because Riordan makes a lot of references to the things revealed in those books and I think it would be a bit hard to fully understand this book/series without

I liked the new characters but missed Percy and Annabeth. I think Jason and Piper are so cute together even if you can't see them. I cant wait to read all the other ones.
