I'm fairly sure that I read this when I was a kid but it made little to no impact on me. I didn't really remember anything beyond the firemen burning books. But now I have read it (perhaps again? maybe for the first time?), I find that there's a lot that resonates with me today. The technology and isolation that it causes seems especially timely. If you haven't read it since you were a kid, I really recommend picking it up and giving it a go. It feels strangely portentous to me.... ...more

I read this in HS. I think it was my first dystopian book. It seemed really cool and I liked it. I listened to it again to see if I still found it good. I did like it but it didn't seem to leave the kind of impression I remember when I was in HS. Possibly because I have more to compare it to.
But I do think it reminds us to pause and think about our society and our life. To value things that may be taken from us.

I totally love this book. I will be purchasing a copy for home. The validity in current day to day circumstances is seriously on point. To think that this book was written as science fiction in the future and then to realize how much of this future is now reality is completely amazing. I have to re-read this to better grasp all of the underlying ideas and dilemmas.
