I really enjoyed this book. Although it did take me a few attempts to finish it, I'm glad I did. I'm looking forward to the second book, and hoping the pacing is much like the end of the first book. (The beginning was a bit slow...)
I like Cassia. But, when I think about everything there is for her to face in the future - everything they ALL must face in the future - it causes me some anxiety, haha. Maybe I need to take a green tablet... ;)

Matched is another one of those situations where Shellby goes; "Oooo pretty cover!" Unfortunately, for Shellby pretty cover does not always work out in the end. Don't get me wrong I did read a few synopsis on this book before I snatched it up, but I will admit that the cover was the real reason for the purchase. Sadly I regret that impulse now.

I am torn....I really liked the story and the idea behind the story, but I feel as if it has been told before. I enjoy the concept of the book with the idea of a perfect society where things are made so everything is perfect. Our matches are picked for us, we don't have to suffer in death. But with that is the lack of free will, of freedom, of choice.

Not quite perfect.
I read this book after some had compared it to The Hunger Games (the author has planned to write a trio of novels depicting this society). From the beginning, I saw the similarties: the opening scene describing a routine society event, the society based on rules created to promote unity and safety, and a female character with a best friend who is a boy. The similarites end there.
Matched doesn't have the fire of The Hunger Games and never seemed to light a fire in me. I wasn't ...more

Beautiful, romantic story. Do not go gentle into this good book!
The clarity and beauty of writing pairs nicely with this refreshing story of a young woman who is seeking choices in a world where it seems they don't exist. Green eyes, green dress, green girl....*sigh* I can't wait for her next installment! ...more

I don't think this book is as good as all the hype. It was intersting, but not as good as futuristic society novels, such as THE HUNGER GAMES. I didn't really connect with the characters and the main character, Cassia, somewhat drove me nuts. I understand her concerns, but I don't have much sympathy for them.

Does remind you of "The Giver"! Can't wait to read the next one, "Crossed"

This was an interesting book (as most dystopian books are) because at first I was thinking about how living in this Society seemed pretty nice and by the end I was like "thank god for America!" I liked the balance of relationships between Ky, Cassia and Xander. It was definitely a fun book to read but I can't say it was amazing or left me crying or even really wondering about what happens next. I will still probably read the sequel but I felt satisfied with the ending.
