I have heard amazing things about the Artemis Fowl Series for a very long time, but I haven’t picked up the series until now. My first impression? Well, Artemis is a genius, but his actions within the novel, kidnapping a faery, for one, put me off of him and I spent a lot of the novel really disliking him. However, the more I read, the more I realized he was just putting on a façade. Artemis is good at heart, though he’s committing multiple crimes, and I actually really liked him by the end.

I checked this out b/c my youngest was reading it and the blurb called Artemis a master criminal. Not exactly the kind of hero I want my kids to emulate! But it wasn't bad, he's not really evil, just tricky. (I still hope my kids don't emulate him though!)

This was an interesting book. I love when authors take fantasy elements and weave them into the existing world. It was weird that the main character, Artemis, was somewhat of a bad guy yet the reader still connects with him. I still wanted him to get away with his plan even though he was a 'criminal.' I love the author's mentioning of things being "part of another story." It makes me eager to read the rest of the series.
