Maybe I just has too high of expectations.
But the whole plot was lame. The writing in general wasn't all that good. Sookie sort of annoyed me. Bill was not at all "book boyfriend" material. And what kind of name is Bill anyways...
Hopefully this is like the vampire diaries. Horrible book series, fabulous tv show.

These are my "guilty pleasure" books and will never get a 5-star rating as they just can't compare to the classics. I also feel that others in the series (as this is not my first time reading them) are better than this one, though this one does do a great job of introducing characters and setting up the story lines. As a fan of the tv show as well, it's always fun to re-read the books to see how different they are (Tara, for one, isn't even mentioned in this volume!) And Bubba will always have a
