Fales-Hill writes about her late mother's life- Josephine Premice, and african american actress, singer, and dancer. Premice sacified her career when she married and had a family. She attempted to re-start her career after her children were grown. Her daughter was hired as a writer for the Crosby Show and later "A Different World." She describes how hard it was to get executives to want to have a show depiciting a successful African American loving supprotive family on network television. Fales was able to create an episode with her mother depiciting a jazz singer, and later wrote parts for her "aunt" Diane Carrol as Whintley Giblert's mother on "A Different World."
