A cheesy, but heartwarming story about a couple with disabilities institutionally mistreated who show that love, faith, and perseverance can conquer all. Wow...even my review is cheesy.... This is a chapter in our history that I have heard of but know little about. And while I doubt many true stories coming from this part of history had as happy endings as Homan and Lynnie did, it was still a lovely read. Overall, this is an interesting fictional account of the life of a developmentally disabled girl and the baby she gives to a kind stranger one rainy night in 1968. 4 narrators in all, and it gets to be a bit jumpy because of this. I see the point of this device, since the 4 of them are only in the same place for a few hours, and this story spans over 40 years. Might be easier to deal with this in print rather than as an audio (which is always my preferred format.)
