I FINALLY made through the tale of Lisabeth Salander. It took me almost one year and hours of stopping and starting until I completed the last book. Honestly it was an awesome story with some dry parts that left me crying for Larsson to just get to the point already. I enjoyed reading the Millenium series and would recommend, but it would come with a heavy "You might snore on some parts." disclaimer.

During the second book, I kept thinking, enough with the very obvious sexism-- it's rare that as a woman you will find men casually tossing out the word whore. What you do encounter is much more subtle and insidious-- and this book finally talks about that, at least to some degree. I absolutely loved Erica Berger in this-- her responses to her male coworkers, and the way she consistently stood up for herself in her male-dominated workplace made me want to applaud at points. There's quite a lot of getting-each-other-up-to-speed scenes in this third book, as the cast of characters expands to include more cops, more lawyers, and two separate factions of Sweden's secret police. But, as with The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, I liked it better the further I read. The ending is particularly satisfying, as we sit back and watch Lisbeth Salander go on trial for her perceived crimes. Larsson constructed a marvelous defense of free will and individual freedom before he died. R

Larsson tells a good story but I really wish he didnt include so much unnecessary details! The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest was a fitting ending to the trilogy and it was nice that everything was wrapped up but at times I just wanted to book to be over. This one didn't grab my attention as much as the first two, I guess since there were less dramatic confrontations. Also, does Blomkvist sleep with every woman he does business with?!? Seriously!
