Amanda is now sixteen and missing again, and her loving aunt asks Patrick to find her. Amanda is now the epitome of responsibility: she has worked hard to get good grades, she goes to her expensive private school regularly, and she doesn’t do drugs, so it seems unlikely that Amanda would disappear of her own volition. Amanda’s aunt Bea thinks she’s been kidnapped, and after Patrick reviews the evidence and agrees to take on the case for free, despite his money problems.
I loved this book. The main characters, Patrick and his wife Angie, were three dimensional and witty, and there were a couple surprises I didn’t see coming. Also, unlike a lot of current novels, this book felt intimate, due to the first person point of view.
