What Members Thought
Not sure what to say. This author sure can write twisted books. It is very hard to rate.
I really enjoyed this book, and now I can't wait for her next book! She really is great at getting into the minds of unusual characters and making them believable and even sympathetic. I did have kind of a problem with the actual killer of the mother, it seemed like that answer was sort of thrown in there. However, the buildup with her brother in the 24 hours before the murders was perfect, you could really understand his feelings of impotence and frustration.

If you are looking for a good quick summer read, this is a good option. I've read both this and Gone Girl and keep hoping to love Gillian Flynn but I just can't connect or feel any kind of compassion for her characters. I like her style and fast paced story development. Ultimately, Dark Places is entertaining but not quite compelling.
