[close] I enjoyed this as much as the others in terms of the creative nature of the book's adventures, the new characters introduced, etc., etc.

But as the last book in a 13-book series, it was terrible at wrapping up the story! 13 books of Lemony Snicket's research on the Baudelaires, but no explanation at the end as to why he was researching them this whole time. 13 books of hints about the V.F.D. and the schism, and we still don't know any more about it. Mysterious mentions of the Question Mark that appeared back in the submarine, but no explanation as to what it was. Three books of people trying to track down the Sugar Bowl and it was never found, never explained! And lastly, WHERE ARE THE QUAGMIRES??

This was so frustratingly unhelpful in tying up all the loose ends that the 12 other books teased about and lead up to. Ugh.

EDIT: Having read some of the other reviews, I hear there are more books by Lemony Snicket titled "All The Wrong Questions" that go along with these. Now I will have to read those and see if they answer any of these questions!
