This is one of the most amazing books that I’ve ever read, and I have the honor of teaching it every year to my tenth grade students. It’s amazing how little students tend to know about the Holocaust in today’s day and age, and watching them go from novices who state that they would simply fight off the Nazi’s to understanding the enormity of the Holocaust, the dehumanization, and atrocity of WWII, is amazing.

This book gave me nightmares of trying to free my children from a gas chamber. I knew this would be difficult to read but I'm thankful I finally did, nightmares aside. It is incredible and tender and beautiful and horrible. It is definitely on my list of books to encourage my children to read in their lifetime when they get older. I cannot believe the strength it took Elie Wiesel to vow silence for 10 years and then revisit these memories and put them to page. Incredible.

I read this book when I was in the 8th grade and it made such an impact on me that I have never forgotten it. It's a book about the concentration camps and although it is glum it is reality and what those poor people had to go through. Loved it!!
