Daughter of Smoke and Bone is a captivating and very unique fantasy novel. The main character is such a mystery, even to herself, and getting to experience her story unfolding with her makes for an engaging reading experience. The story begins mainly in our world, and the way the author describes the various cities we get to visit, especially Prague and Marrakesh, gave me serious wanderlust. I found this a little hard to get into. I liked the characters but the "destiny" love thing is getting to be really overdone. I also didn't like how it ended with a "to be continued." I did like how Taylor released the story in pieces. It was fun trying to figure out how things fit together.
