The Good Girl is an impressive debut novel, that is as beautiful as it is twisted. Mia Dennett is the quintessential poor little rich girl, who has material wealth but has an unhappy home life and a turbulent relationship with her father who is a well respected judge. The book is told from multiple points of view which alternate between before Mia is found after being abducted and after her abduction. We hear from her mother, her captor and the police officer on the case but we don't hear Mia's ...more

I just got finished listening to this, and I have to say, I'm not as thrilled as I thought I'd be. The story was very slow-moving in parts, and I got tired of waiting for my questions to be answered. The changing POVs were also a little confusing. There was a twist at the end, as there usually are in these types of thrillers, but I was so underwhelmed by that point, I wasn't shocked or surprised by the ending. Oh well! ...more

It was a fun read. I liked the evolution of Owen/Colin's character, how he begins to see that hurt and sadness isn't really something measured on a scale-who is hurt or screwed over more wins, but rather it is simply something felt on an individual level and there is no comparison. Hurt is hurt. I also really liked Gabe. I love how he took on the care giving of Mrs. Thatcher.

I didn't love the women of this story. Was that the goal? ...more
