Started strong, weak finish, but good for its intended age group (middle school-ish).
This was a wonderful tale, weaving the stories of three separate characters - Jin, Danny, and the Monkey King - and disseminating what it means to be an American born Chinese. Weaving the three tales separately initially left me a bit confused, but the twist at the end that allowed them all to cross paths made perfect sense. It is a very quick read, and while the focus was on Chinese-American teenagers, I think most teenagers of any background will come away with a good story about trying to fit

A short, weird read. Yang intertwines three stories to tell one story about accepting your heritage/culture.
I LOVE this for 3 reasons:
1. Because it made me laugh
2. But then I found out that I shouldn't have laughed
3. The end was hopeful instead of happy.
