Between Shades of Gray is a great book for young adult readers! Lina’s firsthand explanation of what happened to many Lithuanians during Joseph Stalin's reign of terror is a real eye opener. Her insight and personal experience provide young readers with a deeper understanding of a part of history that may otherwise be left untold. I can't review this book. Just know it's a very gripping tale of a portion of the WWII/Russian Revolution period that I'd never heard about before, and I am frankly shocked at everything the MC goes through! Treat this like a holocaust book - it's on that level. A very good and engaging read, and I enjoyed reading it, but tread lightly. It's very heavy stuff, a fiction about a very real horrible event.

Trying to decide between 3.5 and 4 stars. Definitely a part of history I didn't know much about and the story was gripping. I was unsatisfied with the ending. Would like to have heard more of Lina's story.
