[close] I picked this book up while at the library when I noticed that it was the Owings Mills July 1 book club book. I actually borrowed the book and audio because I had a road trip coming up. So glad I did! The writing was engaging, and I couldn't put it down. In addition to being well written, the topics and themes challenge the reader to think and consider how a Person's life and opportunities are shaped but so many circumstances outside of that Person's control. The novel challenges one to consider the impact of economics, gender, race and historical context on societal values and what is generally accepted as ethical. Great book. I strongly recommend and hope I can make it to the book discussion!
