I read this for a book club at Fantasy Faction so the review is really my final thoughts. This is a classic YA fantasy coming of age story about a young wizard name GED who goes to Wizard school and must battle his inner darkness to reach maturity. It follows the heroic cycle and is set in the island world of Earthsea which is an excellently built world. I'm glad I read this book. It really does stand the test of time.
