You take what is offered. And that must sometimes be enough.

4.5 maybe? Damn, but that was a good book. Fantastic characters and plot, and the writing fit the story perfectly. It's not beautiful, not the boring "workmanlike" that people tend to use to describe average prose, but it was modern, written with an exciting tone.

I don’t even know what to say. This was bloody fantastic. First book of the series and it’s already entered my top 5 sci fi series of all time.

Reading this at the same time as watching the show was a great idea - they complimented each other really well and helped shed a lot of light on what was going on in the plot and the world building. A few significant changes from the book, but I can’t hold any of them against Netflix.

A gritty cyberpunk noir with a space opera looming on the fringes, Altered Carbon has a breakneck pace and a labyrinthine plot that all ties up neatly together in the end. Super intense and super fun - highly recommended.

Spectacular Johnny Mnemonic type book that dang near tells the future. Super cool cyber punk novel that’s stretches some racial boundaries. Morgan tends to do that.
