A truly enjoyable story - by far my favorite from Pratchett so far. I'm hearing this is about the time his writing "really gets good", and this is a pretty good example of the type of fantasy-comedy I want to read. I loved it.

Vimes is my favourite of the character sets, and it's interesting to come back and see him here still in formation. His state of ignorance about past kings was particularly bemusing.
Re-read 2025 for the Fantasy & Beyond book club, and one big thing that stood out for me this time through is that the timeline of this book is all over the place (and no one cares).
