Ruth Jefferson is told not to touch a white supremacist’s baby in the hospital nursery, but when she finds herself the only person in the room when the baby goes in to distress, she isn’t sure what she should do.

Ruth is accused of murder after the baby subsequently died. But is this a case of racism or just an unfortunate situation? Was Ruth somehow prejudiced against the baby because of the baby’s parents’ behavior toward her or was she just the most convenient scapegoat?
