Unlike any other science fiction book, this really gets to the heart of the human condition. When we desire something the pleasure comes from the desire itself rather than obtaining the desired object. It is on this basis that Huxley's apparent Utopia where all human needs are instantly met is so unsettling.

Perfection.
I assigned this book as summer reading for my AP Literature class so I need to re-read it myself. It's a dystopian-future novel, which are quite popular now. I read it in college and actually thought it was cool that there were government-issued hallucinogens. Now...not so much.
