Goodreads is capable of ridiculous levels of peer pressure. The type of peer pressure that involves not a single comment from another person, caused entirely by my seeing that more than one of my friends is reading the same book and ENJOYING it. I feel so left out and find myself having the read that book as soon as possible. So it happened with Anna Karenina and I am so glad that I felt that (non-existent) peer pressure to read this monster of a book.

Is it possible that I'm still too young for this? Or maybe it's just not my cup of tea... I skimmed through the book quickly (when I felt like picking it up...), sometimes I skipped 10-20 pages... Too much for me. I'll try again when I'm 60. ...more

I'm giving this book 3 stars. It was brilliant in its way but terribly depressing. I would sum up the story by saying - Nobody's ever really happy, ever. ...more
