It is interesting to reread a book that one loved as a child. As an adult, you get a different perspective which leads an opinion that is not the same as one had as a child. I did find the book preachy, which I did not remember as a child. This made the first half very difficult to get through. I did appreciate the love triangle and how that resolved itself. I enjoyed the early marriage difficulties of Meg and John and completely related to those chapters. However, I questioned Beth's death. Wha

I just finished reading "Little Women." It's the book for the month of May in the Banned Books Club here on Goodreads, and it will be interesting to discuss it with the people in the group. Also, I like to go back and reread books that I haven't read since I was a child, and I thought it would be interesting to read this again as an adult. Unfortunately, there are a lot of things about this book that I am not crazy about.

I know that when I was younger I read an illustrated classics version of this (which I am pretty sure left out most of the marriage stuff) and I have seen several movie versions but somehow I made it to this point in my life without reading this classic.
I think my enjoyment of this novel would have been much better when I was younger because I found myself wanting to toss each of these girls at a wall because they were pouring sugar out of their pores. No one is really that sweet. The moral les ...more
