To view it, click here. first book i've ever read by any of the bronte sisters && i must say, it was amazing. i even shed some tears when i neared the end. the love shared between jane and her dearest edward was beautifully created. however, i feel that the values instilled on jane corrupted her heart from a purity that would have surely kept her from running away from her lover. if she had not been refused by mrs. reed and her children, had she not been shunned to live the remainder of her childhood and young adolesce first book i've ever read by any of the bronte sisters && i must say, it was amazing. i even shed some tears when i neared the end. the love shared between jane and her dearest edward was beautifully created. however, i feel that the values instilled on jane corrupted her heart from a purity that would have surely kept her from running away from her lover. if she had not been refused by mrs. reed and her children, had she not been shunned to live the remainder of her childhood and young adolescence at lowood, had she not gone through those things, and a few different circumstances, she most likely would have never left rochester when she discovered his secret, but without these hardships, her character would not be as strong, and i would not have loved her as much as i have come to. i loved that she endured these hardships, these moments that were character building to her self -they give the pages life and reality. her running away also seemed to tame rochester some, for when they planned to wed the second time, he realized what she did the first time, that extravagance was not needed, only him and her. i especially liked when she discovered new relatives. my heart sprung for joy that i had to read faster to see how it all unfurled. and when she told st. john rivers that marrying him would be like committing suicide -that she scorned his love- i laughed at the extremity of degree she imposes upon herself in order to respond to his proposal because "no" was not an answer he was apparently willing to succumb to. this book appeased all my senses, but it pleased my heart even more. my new favorite right next to radcliffe's "the mysteries of udolpho" and austen's "persuasion".

charlotte bronte's writing is unique, yes, and this book has lived up to all of my expectations and surpassed it. her way of description is different and the element in which she describes everything is all very new to me; it seems, rather, of a more gloomy state, but for the tale that is told, it is very becoming and further pleased me in my reading experience. i look very much forward to reading more of charlotte bronte, of the bronte sisters, and even more so to seeing how each sister differs from one another. ...more

Really loved it. I'm glad the film came out so I was encouraged to read it; but the film was pretty bad in comparison. I hear there is one starring Orson Welles as Rochester though which I imagine is much better. ...more
