What Members Thought

SOME QUICK THOUGHTS:
I just finished it and I am torn between being glad this book exists, to raise awareness against totalitarian regimes and political manipulation, and how bad it was. As a novel.
The characters terrible. Couldn't care about them at all.
No plot at all.
Intellectual and overanalytical, it would have made a wonderful collection of essays. On so many subjects.
But from the point of view of the novel, I expected that piece of heart that filters everything and gives it meaning. Nope, n ...more

1984 is one scary look into a Totalitarian future. There were some great messages that really make you think. What do we really know other than what we have read in books and what others tell us?
