What can I say about this childhood favorite?
I am lucky to have a mother who is an avid reader but my father hates reading. I grew up watching her read while I never saw him touch a book. However, he told me that this was his favorite book. What a charming and amazing book!
The writing is fascinating, teasing and entertaining. You never get bored of it and it never gets too difficult and heavily descriptive like in the Lord of the Rings.
Bilbo is such a lovable character, I grew very fond of him and the dwarves.
I absolutely recommend it for everyone.
And parents, please read this to your children, take the time and read it carefully together, discover the story and the mythology slowly. It's worth it! ...more
