Like many Americans, I read this one in high school & was just too immature to appreciate it at the time.
I bought a beautiful edition of it 2-3 years ago, and it sat on my shelf taunting me, and it wasn't until 'Go Set A Watchman' reviews started pouring in that I decided that it was time to revisit Scout and Atticus and company.
And I am glad that I did! I know now courtesy of the reviews of 'Go Set A Watchman' that we learn that Atticus may not be the amazing man that I currently think he is-- ...more

All I can say is that you must...
If you are to ever decide to visit Alabama, please remember that this is not how our culture is at the present.
FYI people, this book just makes me furious! I get so upset by the issue of race. I admit that this is beautifully written, but the events that take place in this book upsets me so much that I can't give it a higher rating than what I have. It has taken me a very long time to finish this read. I think coffee is now required.
