This was a compelling read. Very straight forwardly written.
The main character is intriguing. During the first part of the book I didn't like him much. I didn't like how he felt about some things and I disapproved of some of his actions. I thought he and some of his friends were jerks. However during his predicament in the second half of the book I felt a lot of sympathy for his position, many extraneous factors were brought to bear on his fate that shouldn't have been.
