Dear Pretties,
I have to say that after laboriously reading this book, that Anne is my favorite of the Bronte sisters!
Yet again; I dove in without reading the synopsis of the book, and was so delighted by the end.
Granted, the main characters Gilbert and Helen must go through some of the most hellish torments.
I was able to relate to the story, as compared to Charlotte and Emily's works.
Anne kept a firm grasp on realism, and very little mystery. I was also charmed by the romanti ...more

Nefiind la fel de apreciată ca surorile sale, Emily și Charlotte Bronte, Anne Bronte a scris doar două romane extrem de frumoase și interesante: Necunoscuta de la Wildfell Hall și Agnes Grey. Până acum nu l-am citit decât pe primul, dar am de gând ca în viitorul apropiat să îl citesc și pe celălalt.

Poor Anne Bronte had the misfortune of being the first author I read after finishing two books by Tolstoy, and I tried to be fair to her. But, this is a very stupid book.
The language is ridiculous, with too many superfluous adjectives. Lots of moonlight and bedewed blossoms, all laid on too thick. The plot is full of contrived convolutions, particularly towards the end.
The hero and heroine are not sympathetic. Gilbert is an impetuous twit. She is an arrogant, preachy, pain in the ass. They deser ...more
