I've read this several times since my childhood along with The Hobbit, and The Wizard of OZ.
It brings up nostalgic feelings when you think about it. The story is one that everyone knows, but the writing is something that has been so sheltered from the lazy. You have to seek out your own education to appreciate Stevenson's writings.
Peter Jackson please make this into a movie???

This is one of those books that I had never gotten around to read. I had watched various film versions over the years so I knew the story and thanks to Amazon providing the Kindle version free I have now read it.
There isn't much new that I can say about this story. It's entertaining and well written, and it provided me with a pleasant distraction on my bus journeys to and from work. ...more

I listened to “Treasure Island” by Robert Louis Stevenson from a recording that I made using the on-line public book domain website - Librivox (http://librivox.org/)
I liked this young adult adventure story about the seafaring life, sailors, pirates, and searching for treasure. It is also a story of friendship and betrayal.
This book should be required reading for every boy. Action books like this one can help boys develop for love of reading.
