As someone who wrote novels in his second language, Vladimir Nabokov has captured my lexophile heart in ways that no American or English novelist has.

In this celebrated novel, which Nabokov himself considered his masterpiece, one of my favorite word plays in the text was when the post-Lolita, post-Rita Humbert Humbert, who, after receiving a letter from his daughter, resumes his search for Lolita:

I personally cannot list out all the issues I had with this novel.

It was well-written and it certainly was brain fodder. What desires do all people have? Where do individual desires come from?

It was certainly interesting to get H.H.'s perspective on his desire for nymphets and its relation to the death of the childhood friend he fooled around with. Beyond that however, I found myself to be disturbed.
