Nice old fashioned mystery written by a friend of Charles Dickens.
Wonderful page-turner and seminal novel of detective fiction: I believe that Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie both owe a debt to Wilkie Collins. This is a well-constructed plot with a lot of interesting characters and unfolding surprises. I especially enjoyed Recorded Books full cast version with the excellent performance of Patrick Tull as Betteredge.
