Innovative, bold, and unflinching black. Brutal, heartbreaking, and romantic. Children of Blood and Bone is truly a magnificent work of fantasy that deserves all the hype and praise.

While I thought this was a great debut novel with an interesting concept and great characters, I had major problems with the plot. It was very repetitive and too slow for my personal taste. The book also suffered for a lack of world building. Other than that I thought it was a good first book to this series.
Not a bad book by any means. Worth the hype in my opinion. I will be continuing on with the series.
