I definitely enjoyed this book. As a huge fan of "If on a winter's night a traveler" by Italo Calvino, the idea of interrupted stories is not a bad one for me. And what a perk to get to see them finished. The nested nature of the second halves was elegant and enjoyable. I wrestled with whether I would classify this book as "important" as some have said. So I downloaded this after Laini Taylor threw a fit over the movie trailer, because I thought, "Laini Taylor knows a good story when she sees it." And I did enjoy most of the stories in this uniquely structured book. The book tells six stories, a sextet of interwoven solos the book suggests. Half of the first, half of the second, and so on until it descends in reverse order.

It's wonderfully written, the stories have depth to them, make you stop and think, but it lacks some emotional connection with the characters. It could be great, one of the best books I've ever read, but it ends up being just really really good. ...more
