I haven't found out how he can be so cheeky and reverent about people and life at the same time, but he manages, and it makes me feel so connected to his characters and stories.

It's wonderfully written, the stories have depth to them, make you stop and think, but it lacks some emotional connection with the characters. It could be great, one of the best books I've ever read, but it ends up being just really really good.
